Bulgaria, owing to its geographic location, varied relief and climatic
factors, has a rich butterfly and moth fauna (more than 3000 species have
been recorded). There are 208 native butterfly species. The unique character
of the Bulgarian butterfly fauna is determined by a number Balkan-Anatolian
and Balkan-Turanic species living in the southern part of the country,
as well as, a lot of endemics (more than 30) and glacial relicts, which
occupy the subalpine and alpine belts of the high mountains.
The
country holds important populations of several species restricted
to Europe and considered globally threatened. There are many sites with
well preserved butterfly habitats, especially in the some river valleys
and the national park areas of Stara Planina, Rila and Pirin mountains.
Whitin
the tours we can see more than 100 species of butterflies,
including some which can be found only here and hardly anywhere else.
Good number of bird species (around 100) as well as hundreds of plants
will be recorded.
Additionally
we will visit several cultural sites; we will try the orriginal
bulgarian cuisine and wines. Thus, we hope you will have memorable
nature holiday in Bulgaria.
