Our tour gives you the opportunity to take memorable photos of this majestic birds of prey. From a distance of 30-35 m you can photograph their natural behavior: feeding, preening and even copulating, without disturbing them.
It is also a great feeling to watch these birds so close and feel their presence.
We have prepared special hides made of stones and camouflage. In front of them we implement artifical feeding with baits (we use cattle dead a natural death only, or animals who have died because of a car accident).
In the winter, when the food is scarce, the eagles willingly visit these places.
However, because of the sometimes harsh winter, the most suitable periods are 1st of October till 30th of November and 20th of February till 10th of March
The tour starts on 22 October.
Itinerary
Day
1 Saturday ( the tours start in Saturday only)
Arriving at Sofia airport, where we meet you. Transfer to our hotel in Koprivstitza
(about two hours of driving) - an architectural reserve retaining the century-old
Bulgarian style and traditions. Accommodation and dinner.
Day 2 Sunday
In the morning we are going to visit the area, watching the
eagles and discussing the details for the next 5 days. Although we are not
ultimate photographers, there are some advices about eagles' behavior which
can help you to get good photos.
In the afternoon: a walk in Koprivstitza
Days 3-7
Waking up early, we have to leave the hotel in 06:10 AM. We have up to 50
minutes of driving and 5 to 10 minutes of walking to the hide. You have to
be in the hide not later than 07:10 AM.
These days you will make photos of the eagles. Raven is also
very possible to be photographed.
Day 8
Day of departure.
Additional information:
You can
leave the hide only after 07:00 PM unless the weather conditions are quite
bad: thick fog, heavy rainfall etc. and/or when it is sure that the eagles
will not detect you. If they see you, this will chase them away from the feeding
place for months!
In case you think you have made good photos during the first days and you
don't want to stay in the hide anymore, or you just want to have a day off,
another program is possible, which is subject of discussion.
Clothes: you need warm clothes and boots. It is usually still warm in October, but sometimes it can be under zero degrees centigrade!
Physical conditions: the hide is not big and you need to be in good physical condition in order to stay all the day in the hide.
Equipment: Good telephoto lens, at least 300mm. A stable tripod is essential.

Disclaimer: In case of non-appearance of any eagles we will reimburse you 700 EUR. This claim void if you chase the eagles away by either leaving the hide during daytime, changing or moving the lenses front of them, making noise etc.
